Mr. Duff (yes, as in Duff Beer from the Simpsons) experienced traumatic brain injury last November while pruning trees in his yard. He fell off the ladder and hit his head on the cement ground. He has lost a lot of speaking skills... at first I thought Mr. Duff was speaking in another language. He doesn't want to see doctors so I offered to spend an hour talking with each other, looking at photos and doing brain exercises. I offered to Mrs. Duff to connect again and my next visit down will meet for tea and cookies.
Her and I see the same doctors at the University of Utah Health Center and were able to connect. She also started an facial paralysis support group. She and I have gathered before at an facial paralysis support group in SLC, however this was our first outing outside the group. We met for lunch at Vinto's in Park City and we talked, we talked a lot, laughter, smiled and cried. We have the same concerns and feelings about our recovery. It was such a great feeling to have someone their that knows what I feel. We both have loving husbands who understand and care for us unconditionally. It was great to meet another strong person who can relate with me and I look forward to our next outing. Let's go hiking in the Wasatch Mountains!
I offered to Jenny to do a guest blog post about drinking straws... stay tuned.
